Dr. Lídia Reis is an obstetrician-gynaecologist with more than 25 years of clinical practice and postgraduate specialization in senology (breast medicine). Her clinical differentiation lies in the diagnosis and surgical management of breast disease, including breast cancer. Since March 2010, she has served as Coordinator of the Breast Pathology Group within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Hospital de Cascais. This is not simply a physician with an interest in the field, but a specialist who has built and led the breast medicine programme as its coordinator for more than fifteen years.
Alongside her breast practice, she maintains a full gynaecology and obstetrics scope: gynaecological consultations, adolescent gynaecology, pregnancy follow-up, and cardiotocography (CTG) monitoring. Patients can see Dr. Reis for a breast concern, for a routine gynaecological visit, or for obstetric follow-up.
Please note: Dr. Reis consults in Portuguese. If consultations in English are essential for you, please consider other UMC physicians, or contact the clinic reception: for a breast consultation with Dr. Reis, English-speaking coordinator support can be arranged in advance.
Dr. Reis is a physician with both senior management experience and many years of clinical practice. She currently serves as Clinical Director of Clínica CUF Miraflores (since July 2018), Coordinator of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Clínica CUF Miraflores (since July 2017) and at Clínica CUF São Domingos Rana (since 2021), and Coordinator of the Breast Pathology Group at Hospital de Cascais (since March 2010). This combination of clinical depth and leadership responsibility is uncommon and translates into practical care: Dr. Reis sees the breast or gynaecological patient as a complete picture — from the initial consultation and diagnostic workup through surgical management and long-term follow-up.
She is actively involved in the international professional community as a member of the Asociación Española Portuguesa de Cirujanos de la Mama (AEPCIMA), the Spanish-Portuguese Association of Breast Surgeons. In May 2026, she completed a course in endoscopic breast surgery at the III AEPCIMA Congress in Ourense (Spain) — reflecting her ongoing commitment to contemporary minimally invasive techniques and their application in clinical practice.
Her consultation style is attentive and unhurried. A breast consultation is, for many patients, an emotionally loaded visit: it may be the first time something has been found, or it may be a follow-up after treatment. Dr. Reis structures the conversation so that the patient leaves with a clear understanding of what is happening, what the next steps are, and why a particular plan has been proposed.
Board-certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, registered with the Portuguese Medical Association (Ordem dos Médicos), license No. 33020. Completed postgraduate training in Senology (breast medicine) at Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias (Lisbon, 2009–2010).
From February 2001 to 2010, she served as Hospital Assistant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Hospital Garcia de Orta (Almada). From 2008 to 2010, she was Coordinator of the Breast Unit (Unidade da Mama) at the same hospital.
Since March 2010, she has been Coordinator of the Breast Pathology Group within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Hospital José de Almeida – Hospital de Cascais.
Since July 2017, she has been Coordinator of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Clínica CUF Miraflores. Since July 2018, she has served as Clinical Director of Clínica CUF Miraflores. Since 2021, she has also been Coordinator of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Clínica CUF São Domingos Rana.
Member of the Asociación Española Portuguesa de Cirujanos de la Mama (AEPCIMA). She participates in Portuguese and international conferences in gynaecology and breast medicine, and coordinated the 1st Days of Breast Pathology (1as Jornadas de Patologia Mamária) of CUF Cascais/Sintra, held in Sintra in March 2023.
Dr. Reis performs breast surgery for her UMC patients in the operating rooms of partner clinics, including modern minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques.
